Handmade Namji Fertility Doll – Originating from the Dowayo / Namji tribe of North West Cameroon, these dolls represent more than just their striking appearance. Geometric features, multi coloured bead necklaces and cowrie shells are used to adorn the figures. They were made for young girls to play with – strapping them to their backs and carrying them around to mirror the responsibility of their mothers. The dolls are also kept by women to encourage fertility, or to allow for an easy childbirth
