At Wezandla, the name itself speaks to our mission—“hands reaching out” to uplift and empower talented African artisans by showcasing their handcrafted work on a global stage. Our curated collection features authentic African art and crafts sourced from across the continent, offering a diverse and vibrant range of products to suit every taste—from traditional carvings and beadwork to modern handmade decor and unique gifts.
Established in 1994 by the late Glynis Baer, Wezandla quickly became a landmark craft store in Port Elizabeth. In 2016, ownership passed to Angela and Kevin Boucher, who continued the legacy with passion and purpose. The showroom moved from its original location to the historic Parliament Street in 2017, and in 2024, found its new home at 1 Bridge Street, South End, where it continues to thrive as one of South Africa’s premier destinations for African craft and culture.
UPLIFT AND EMPOWER. THIS IS THE VERY CORE OF WHAT WEZANDLA STANDS FOR.
The Journey of Wezandla’s Handmade African Crafts
Each piece in our Wezandla collection carries a story of resilience. Handcrafted by African artisans, these traditional treasures travel through drought-stricken lands, lush rainforests, and war-torn regions, often carried across roadless terrains to reach us. Every handmade African craft stands alone – a collectable masterpiece rich with mysteries, traditions, and untold stories.
